​PERU - MARCH 2022
We will visit at least 4 clay licks (some several times) for Macaws, Amazons and Parrots.
as well as many mammal species including Tapir, Peccary, Monkeys and possibly Jaguar
​with Giant River Otters in the Oxbow Lake.

PRICE of Main Parrot Trip
​All costs are in $US

$ 4750 (£3400) per person sharing a double/twin room
$ 475 (£340) single supplement (if you do not mind sharing a room I can sometimes organise this to avoid paying the supplement)
DEPOSIT

$ 685 (£500) per person
All prices include accommodation, meals, english speaking guide, drivers and/or boatmen, ground transport within the trip specification, bottled water, entry fees to National Parks and/or Conservation Projects within the itinerary.
Includes for all clay lick visits including 2 visits to the main clay lick at Blanquillo Lodge.

Prices do not include flights, insurance, tips, souvenirs, anything of a personal nature including laundry, any additional activities not listed in the itinerary.
MAIN PARROT WATCHING TRIP
14th March
Arrive in Lima with afternoon flight to Cusco.
If you have been on the previous trip to Iquitos then we will be flying from Iquitos to Lima and then onto Cusco.

15th March
Pick up from our hotel for an early start to drive to Cock of the Rock Lodge in the Cloud Forest with afternoon birding around the lodge. Speckle-faced Parrots and Scaly-naped Amazons as well as the Andean Cock of the Rock can be found here. Very ocassionaly Spectacled Bears can be seen

All day for birding around the lodge and its' trails Speckle-faced and Scaly-naped Parrots, Cock of the Rock

17th March 
Transfer Cock of the Rock Lodge to Bamboo Lodge – for Military Macaws

18th March 
Bamboo Lodge to Amazonia Lodge – on Manu Road looking for Military Macaws
It is from this point that we give up our 4 wheel vehicles for boats for the remainder of the journey as everything else will be accessed from the rivers

19th March
Clay lick early morning for Chestnut-Fronted Macaw, Blue-Headed Macaw, Dusky-Headed Parakeet, White-Eyed Parakeet, Blue-Headed Parrot and Yellow-Crowned Amazon

Amazonia Lodge to Dorado Lodge  ( to visit Yanayacu  parrot lick - ) overnight Dorado Lodge
22nd March 
​Yanayacu Clay Lick early morning with afternoon to Maquisapayoj for the mammal clay lick where Tapirs are fairly common but also Rose-fronted and Rock Conures and Dusky-billed Parrotlet can visit during the day.We will be staying overnight at the clay lick to watch the mammal species that visit.

23rd March
Early visit to Main Clay Lick where we can see Blue and yellow, Scarlet and Red and green Macaws as well as Blue headed and Orange-cheeked Parrots, Yellow-crowned and Mealy Amazons – afternoon visit Mammal clay lick early enough for Parakeets

24th March – Early morning visit to Canopy Tower followed by visit to Cocha Camungo

Early visit to Main Clay Lick for Macaws and Parrots again

Morning Mammal clay lick for Parakeets – afternoon Parrots or Oxbow Lake

27th March
​We will transfer by boat to Puerto Maldonado with opportunities to see lots of wildlife while we are travelling in the boats. .
Overnight Puerto Maldonado.
28th March
Early morning visit to a local clay lick. Then late morning we will make our way to the airport for a flight back to Lima. In Lima we then transfer to our International flights home.

I cannot guarantee seeing all or any of these Parrots however we will have a great guide to help us in every way possible.
