BRAZIL 2011 - Living the Dream
&
BRAZIL 2016 - Conservation in Action
by Alan Jones

Picture
Alan Jones joined myself, Steve Brookes, with Wild Parrots Up Close, on two of my Parrot Watching Trips to Brazil.
Pantanal, Amazon and Atlantic Rainforest in 2011 and North-east Brazil in 2016.
He has written both these books as a record of the adventures we had and the Parrots and other wildlife that we encountered along the way.

The sale of both of these books benefits Parrot Conservation.

BRAZIL 2011 - LIVING THE DREAM by ALAN JONES

This book is a very personal account of one single trip to Brazil, taken for the sole purpose of seeing parrots in the wild. Others have made the same journey, so will share the experience. Some have been many times, and will have richer stories.
It was written for selfish reasons. I returned to the UK with over 4,000 photographs, a brief journal, and some wonderful memories. Friends and family asked us about the experience, and wanted to see pictures. There was just so much to tell, and so many images. I gave one presentation lasting 1½ hours about the trip to a bird club, but this merely scratched the surface in conveying the whole magic of the visit.
It is not a catalogue of all the birds we saw. I have focussed on that which specifically interested and excited me, and I have set down the memories that made it special, before they fade too quickly. At my age that happens all too rapidly! If others find it interesting to read, then I have served an additional purpose, but The Book is primarily for Maria and me to look at over and again, to remind us of what truly was for us the trip of a lifetime. The initial print run sold out, so this reprint has been funded by The Parrot Society UK, with all proceeds going to the Society's Conservation Fund, helping to support endangered parrots around the world.
With a face price of £26.95, available now at just £12.00 plus P&P (P&P free in UK)

BRAZIL 2016 - CONSERVATION IN ACTION by ALAN JONES
The Parrot Society UK's Conservation Fund has supported financially many parrot conservation projects around the world, and to mark the Society's 50th anniversary, several members enjoyed a trip to north-eastern Brazil in May 2016, to visit two of these projects and meet with their enthusiastic workers. The highlight of the visit was the planting of fifty Licuri Palms, paid for by PSUK, and being the favourite food of Lear's Macaws.
This is the story of that visit, compiled by PS Chairman and retired avian veterinarian Alan Jones, in similar format to his first parrot-watching travelogue 'Brazil 2011 - Living the Dream'. Both volumes together make a unique and memorable set, and all profits from their sale will go to The Parrot Society Conservation Fund, so that we may continue this vital work.
With a face price of £26.95, available now at just £15.00 plus P&P (P&P free in UK)
